Author/Translator Profile
●Tono Rie: Born in Fukui Prefecture in 1984. Picture book author.
He made his debut in 2011 with an Italian publisher.
He has been selected for the Bologna Children's Book Fair for two consecutive years since 2012. In 2013, he won the International Illustration Award at the same fair. His award-winning work was turned into a picture book, "El viaje de PIPO" (NHK Publishing), which was highly praised for its fantastical and delicate writing style and has been read in more than 12 countries.
His works include "The Bird Who Couldn't Do Anything" and "Rabbit Time" (NHK Publishing).
